COVID-19 UPDATE | Wellington School of Cricket indoor facilities

UPDATE AT 19 MAY, 9.00am

We would like to take this opportunity to clarify what we can about the impact of COVID-19 on the Wellington School of Cricket. We will continue to keep you updated with the latest information and will be reviewing this information on Monday 25th May after the next government announcement.

We are pleased to announce the WSC facilities will be opening on Wednesday 20th May and emphasise that player and coach Health and Safety is a Cricket Wellington priority. To do this, we have changed some of the ways that the WSC operates until we move into Alert Level 1 or until we get further guidance from the government. Net bookings will be able to be made from Monday onwards via our Book-A-Net system.

Our changes are in line with advice provided by New Zealand Cricket and Sport New Zealand. Please take some time to read through the Covid changes to WSC, along with New Zealand Cricket’s Covid Indoor Facility Recommendations attached before making any bookings.

CONTACT TRACING

All visitors will be required to complete contact tracing upon entry of our facilities. When booking a net, Book-a-Net will require the user to input details of all attendees. In addition to this, when entering and exiting the facility, every individual will be required to scan the QR code with the application 'Rippl'. This can be downloaded from the Apple app and Google Play stores. This is a simple Wellington City Council app which assists with timestamping the user's arrival and exit. For further information on Rippl or to download the app, please click here.

MEMBERSHIPS

All members have had two months automatically added to their memberships. We will be in touch at the beginning of the month that your membership is due for renewal and are happy to work through a payment plan if required.

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO WSC

Please note that Cricket Wellington will be monitoring facilities, and failure to comply with these changes may result in memberships being suspended, cancelled or the hirer being banned from the use of the facility.

  • Lane space will be limited due to social distancing requirements and guidelines set by New Zealand Cricket. There is only to be a maximum of four individuals per booking, including coaches, parents and siblings spectating.
  • Out of consideration of all WSC Members, we would appreciate if members limit their use of the facility so there is an opportunity for everyone to use the indoor nets.
  • As there is some uncertainty with Sky Stadium's event schedule, we have been unable to book out the facility for Sky Stadium events. Once these events are confirmed, we may need to cancel bookings if the facility becomes unavailable. We will be in contact with users effected once events are confirmed.
  • The bowling machines will not be available for use by WSC members or the public.
  • There is only to be one ball per person used at each training.
  • Hand sanitiser will be available around all facilities. Please use this upon entrance, after bowling and batting, and upon leaving the facility.
  • WSC kitchens and water fountains will not be in use.
  • Staff will be undertaking cleaning of high-use areas including keypads, door handles and light switches. At Mana Indoor Nets, we ask users to clean the keypad, door handles and any other surfaces which are touched with the provided disinfectant wipes.
  • As we are expecting a high demand at the WSC facilities, if you no longer wish to use your booking, you must cancel it via the Book-a-Net System or email bridget@cricketwellington.co.nz 24 hours prior to your booking commencing.

BASIN RESERVE INDOOR CENTRE ENTRY
