There will be no shortage of firepower for the Admark Print Wellington Blaze when they begin their Dream11 Super Smash title-defence in Lincoln tomorrow.
The 12-strong squad for the women’s central round includes no less than five current WHITE FERNS, as the defending champions begin their quest for an unprecedented T20 three-peat.
Amelia Kerr, Maddy Green, Sophie Devine and Rachel Priest all return to the squad after the Women’s Big Bash - Devine, who was recently named the WBBL Player of the Tournament, will captain the side.
The allrounder scored 769 runs, averaging 76.90 and took 19 wickets, and fell just eight runs shy of breaking Ellyse Perry’s record for most runs in a single WBBL campaign.
Kerr and Green have already tasted T20 success this summer as their Brisbane Heat overcame Devine’s Adelaide Strikers in the WBBL final last week.
The experienced duo of Liz Green-Perry and Thamsyn Newton are also in the squad, while allrounder Jess Kerr, opener Rebecca Burns and spinner Deanna Doughty will look to build on strong T20 campaigns last year.
The Blaze play three games in three days as part of the opening central round including a double-header with the Firebirds at Hagley Oval on Sunday.
Their campaign begins against the Otago Sparks on Lincoln Green tomorrow afternoon,
