RobLawMax Premier Men's Club Cricket Review - 12 October 2024


Wellington gave us a stunner for the opening weekend of the 24/25 season as the ROBLAWMAX Senior Men kicked us off at both Prems and reserve grade level in their respective T20 competitions.

In the the Division 1 & 2 T20 Cup Easts got off to a good start in defending their T20 title with a 9 wicket win over Vic Uni with Alex McAslan picking up 3 wickets and Jakob Bhula scoring 55.

In the other Pool A fixtures, Petone beat Norths by 32 runs and in the afternoon Petone made it 2 from 2 defeating Vic Uni by 62 runs, Casey Cowpland with 42 at the top of the order and Harry Wall unbeaten on 38 not out in the second match.

Easts and Petone top Pool A after two matches on 8 points a piece. In Pool B it was 2 from 2 on the day from both Taita and Karori. Taita beating Naenae in the morning by 8 wickets, Karori getting the better of Johnsonville by 78 runs.

An impressive 76 at the top of the order from Oscar Wilson for Karori set them on their way. In the other morning match in Pool B, Upper Hutt beat Wainui by 12 runs.

In the afternoon, Taita beat Upper Hutt by 4 wickets, including 58 from Nick Greenwood. Johnsonville secured a dominant win to bounce back from their morning defeat by getting the better of Wainui by 9 wickets and Karori beat Naenae by 52 runs. Again, it was Oscar Wilson dominating with the bat scoring 68 for Karori. Ethan Goddard earning a five wicket bag for Naenae.

Taita and Karori top Pool B after two rounds as we move onto round 3 & 4 this weekend at both Kilbirnie and Fraser Park.In the reserves, it was positive opening days for Taita and Wellington Collegians in divison 3, both securing two wins from two. In division 4, it was Hutt District Super Challengers and the Sri Lankan Sports Club Premiers who secured their own 2-0 records heading into week 2.
