Cricket Wellington is delighted to announce the appointment of Lisa Jones as Cricket Wellington’s General Manager.
Lisa is an experienced leader who, in her capacity of CEO at Wellington Hockey, has transformed hockey in the capital.
Lisa joined Wellington Hockey in January 2020 and has rebuilt the organisation, growing revenue, enhancing the balance sheet and leading a team that has grown participation in hockey by providing more flexible competition offerings and enhancing the profile of the sport. In this role she has worked with councils and funders to upgrade facilities across greater Wellington, Chaired the Affordable Sports for Greater Wellington RSO facilities campaign, provided strong strategic leadership, and delivered the FIH Pro League featuring the Black Sticks women.
Lisa believes her experience in this role has prepared her well for her new position at Cricket Wellington “I have a passion for community sport and look forward to bringing my experience working in other sports to Cricket to build on the great work that is already happening within Cricket Wellington”.
Prior to her role with Wellington Hockey, Lisa spent seven years at Capital Football as Operations Manager and 2I/C to the CEO. During this time she worked across New Zealand Football’s men's, women's and futsal advisory groups as well as the New Zealand Football National League Review Group.
Alongside Lisa’s extraordinary leadership experience within local sport she is also a former recipient of Nuku Ora’s Trish McKelvey leadership award.
We’re delighted that with Lisa’s vast experience, her well established relationships and mana within the Wellington sporting community, she will hit the ground running.
“The opportunity to work with Cam Mitchell (Cricket Wellington CEO), the team at Cricket Wellington and the wider Cricket community, is one that means a great deal to me and I can’t wait to get started.”, says Lisa. A sentiment certainly shared by the Cricket Wellington Team. We look forward to the insights Lisa will bring across the board, but especially to our community team, club support, facilities and youth cricket.
We eagerly anticipate Lisa joining our team from the 26th June.
