The Spotlight Reporting Blaze have named their 13-strong squad to take on the Canterbury Magicians in the Dream11 Super Smash Final on Saturday, February 11th at Hagley Oval.
BLAZE
Thamsyn Newton returns to the side as the Blaze name their 13 to travel to Christchurch for the Grand Final.
Leigh Kasperek and the Spotlight Reporting Blaze are no strangers to the spotlight of the Grand Final, this being their sixth on the trot, winning four of their previous five, only dropping the 2019-20 final to Canterbury.
Coming off a loss in Round 10 to end a NZ record 19-game win streak, the Blaze look to keep their undisputed spot atop the domestic throne with a win of this year’s Super Smash competition.
Despite finishing in first spot, the Blaze will play an away final due to Canterbury finishing first in the men’s competition. Head coach Lance Dry knows that it won’t be an easy out.
“They’re a very hard team to get over on their day” he told Ian Smith of SENZ, “their consistency has enabled them to get in the position they’re in”.
The Final will take place at Hagley Oval on Saturday, February 11th. The action kicks off from 2:30pm, LIVE on Spark Sport!
