Three Wellington players have been named in the New Zealand Over-50 cricket side to play Australia in a three-match series in Brisbane, in August.
Former BLACKCAP Richard Petrie, former Wellington representative Scott McHardy and Stephen Hewson have been selected in the 14-strong squad.
Petrie and Hewson were members of the New Zealand Over-50 World Cup squad which played in South Africa last year, but the tournament was abandoned halfway through due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
For McHardy it will be his first appearance for the Grey Caps.
At Over-50's representative provincial level Wellington combines with Tasman and competes at the annual Interprovincial Tournament as the Firehawks.
A Wellington XI also competes at the second tier National Regional Tournament.
A wider Over-50's training group practices over winter and trial matches will be held in October to pick squads for the 2021-2022 IPT and NRT competitions.
If you are interested in joining the Over-50's programme contact Stephen Hewson at: steve.hewson@rnz.co.nz
Please note this is representative cricket and not a social cricket experience so those who join up are typically still playing competitive club cricket.
